COVID-19 Impact on Alzheimer's Disease

Patients with Dementia or Alzheimer's disease may be more susceptible to COVID-19 due to age and medical conditions

At-Home Caregivers

Caregivers should continue to practice hygiene and safety procedures!

- Getting tested frequently

- Wearing a mask 

- Daily temperature checks 

- Washing your hands frequently and/or using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol

Vaccinations 

- Caregivers should definitely try to be vaccinated since they are close in contact with patients. 

- If they are not yet fully vaccinated, caregivers should abide by the CDC guidelines and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as getting tested frequently

Community Based  Care Services

- Prepare for possible disruptions of out of home care options, such as elderly homes or day cares 

- Virtual opportunities are available to "maintain health and encourage social engagement" while also abiding by the COVID-19 regulations. See below for more!
